Baldwin Park Adult Education Instructors Honored for Excellence

BALDWIN PARK – Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education (BPACE) instructors Jessica Bayardo and Consuelo Pimentel have received 2018 Excellence Awards from the California Council for Adult Education (CCAE), recognizing their respective contributions as an adult secondary instructor and a childcare provider.

Bayardo and Pimentel received the honor Nov. 17 at the CCAE South Coast Fall Conference in Palm Springs.

“Both awardees are exceptional recipients for the awards,” said Ana Rubalcava, president of the CCAE Baldwin Park chapter. “Pimentel goes above and beyond her job duties to ensure that each child receives personal attention each and every day, and Bayardo takes on leadership roles and mentors new instructors.”

Bayardo, who has worked at BPACE for 15 years as an English as a second language (ESL) adult secondary instructor, earned the Excellence in Teaching Award.

Pimentel, who has worked at BPACE for 18 years as a childcare provider, took home the Excellence in Support Services Award.

“It’s been an honor to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award and I definitely feel grateful for being recognized for my work and my commitment as an instructor,” Bayardo said. “I genuinely care for my students and everything I do in the classroom is for them and our program. This award motivates me to continue striving for the best as an instructor, role-model and colleague.”

The award-winning BPACE program includes academic efforts, such as earning a high school diploma or equivalency degree, and a host of career technical education (CTE) programs designed to guide graduates directly into the job market.

Bayardo is one of four individuals selected to receive the award at the state level. She will be recognized during the CCAE State Conference, to be held April 25 to 27 in San Diego.
CCAE is dedicated to promoting adult education by honoring exceptional adult educators and support staff with scholarships and awards at the state, section and chapter levels.

“The District is proud to support leaders from across our schools who exemplify our mission and goals to ensure a high-quality education for all learners,” Superintendent Dr. Froilan N. Mendoza said. “These awards in excellence perfectly highlight all of the amazing work our instructors do.”
