The Board of Education and Superintendent Froilan N. Mendoza congratulated high school sports teams on their outstanding accomplishments during the 2024-25 season. In addition to District certificates, athletes and coaches received special recognition from the offices of Congressman Gil Cisneros, Senator Susan Rubio, and the Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio, with representatives presenting official certificates during the event.

An honorable mention was also awarded to Sierra Vista High School Cheer, which made history this year as the first team in BPUSD to win a USA Nationals Championship.
Sports highlights included Baldwin Park High School’s Boys Cross Country team sweeping the league, finishing first in all four league races, and Sierra Vista High School’s Boys Basketball team, which earned a Montview League championship title with a perfect 10-0 record, advanced to the CIF semifinals for the third consecutive year, and reached the second round of the CIF State tournament with 22 total wins. Standout SVHS Basketball player Aaron Buna also celebrated reaching the 1,000-point club and participated in the San Gabriel Valley All-Star Game. Sierra Vista’s Boys Wrestling team celebrated an eighth consecutive undefeated Montview League season (2017-2025).
“It was an honor to celebrate such talented and hardworking student-athletes,” Superintendent Mendoza said. “Their achievements are a reflection of their dedication, teamwork, and spirit, and we are proud to have them represent Baldwin Park Unified.”
