BPHS Art Featured in Exclusive City ARC Gallery

The gallery exhibition featured a wide range of student work, including ceramics, digital art, photography, drawings, paintings and mixed media. The showcase kicked off with a festive opening reception, where student performers from the school’s Orchestra, Choir and Wind Ensemble delivered powerful performances to celebrate the launch.

As part of the event, the Baldwin Park High School Wind Ensemble also proudly displayed its newly released album, Illumination—a collection of works by 21st-century composers, including underrepresented and emerging minority voices. The album, inspired by a featured piece of the same name, reflects the ensemble’s spring semester journey and aims to serve as an academic resource by recording rarely available professional versions of festival-listed compositions. Illumination was formally recognized by the Baldwin Park Unified School District Board of Education on March 26 during VAPA Arts Education Month. Students performed at the meeting and presented a framed copy of the album to the Board in appreciation of their continued support of the arts.

“This event is a true collaboration across all of our arts programs,” said BPHS Band Director Dr. Peter Huerta. “It’s always exciting to see our students’ hard work and creativity celebrated in a professional space, and we are very grateful to the City for providing our students this opportunity.”

Organized each spring, the Baldwin Park Arts & Recreation Center “Canvases” exhibition is a partnership between Baldwin Park High School and the City of Baldwin Park. The City generously offers its space to highlight student work, providing young artists with a public platform to share their skills and passions. In addition to visual art, the opening night spotlighted the school’s performing arts programs, adding a dynamic blend of music and culture to the celebration.
