In honor of students with autism, ninth through twelfth-grade students with disabilities participated in a day filled with engaging activities alongside their education peers. The celebration included poster-making, arts and crafts, and friendship bracelet-making with the Associated Student Body (ASB), creating meaningful moments of connection.
The event not only raised awareness but also showcased the importance of kindness, as students with autism and their peers shared smiles, creativity, and camaraderie. Teachers, staff, and school site administrators joined in to demonstrate their support, reinforcing Sierra Vista High School’s commitment to an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
“It was an amazing time to see our students interact, engage, and make friends,” said Dr. Vwaire Malomo, Education Instruction Specialist at Sierra Vista High School.
The celebration served as a reminder that fostering an inclusive campus culture strengthens the entire school community, paving the way for greater understanding and support for students with autism. BPUSD is proud to recognize April as National Autism Awareness Month.
