Foster Elementary Hosts Engaging Family STEAM Night

The event, designed to foster curiosity and engagement in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, featured interactive stations and a special guest from the Natural History Museum.

Amanda Fawcett, a presenter from the Natural History Museum, brought excitement to the event with a Dino Kit, allowing students to explore prehistoric wonders up close. Families engaged in a variety of dinosaur-themed activities, including Math Dino Cubes, Dinosaur Geometric Patterns, Painting Silhouettes, Dinosaur Tracks, Make-A-Dino, and Dino Slime. Attendees also had the chance to search for fossils, create Dino Eggs, experiment with volcanoes, and construct Dino Cave Geopanes.

In addition to hands-on science and math activities, students explored technology through Computer Book Cards and literacy with Reading About Dinosaurs. One of the evening’s highlights was the Make-Your-Own-Fossil station, where participants crafted their own fossils to take home once they finished drying on Friday.

Open to students of all grade levels, Family STEAM Night is a beloved tradition at Foster Elementary, bringing together families, students, and staff for an evening of collaborative learning. The event continues to be a popular initiative that strengthens the school community while making STEAM education both fun and accessible.
