BPACE Earns Award for Workforce Partnerships

Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education (BPACE) has been honored with a prestigious commendation from the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) for excellence in occupational workforce partnerships. This national award recognizes BPACE’s outstanding advisory meetings and collaborative efforts with industry leaders over the past six years.

BPACE was selected from many schools across more than 40 states to receive this award, highlighting the program’s dedication to bridging education with real-world career opportunities. Through partnerships with workforce and industry leaders, BPACE has created pathways for students to connect with potential employers, apply their skills in professional environments, and prepare for successful careers. These partnerships support programs such as barbering and cosmetology, medical assistant training, HVAC, electrician, automotive, culinary arts, and more. Notably, most of these partnerships lead to direct job placements after program completion, with BPACE achieving higher-than-average success rates, setting it apart as a leader in workforce education.

This recognition comes on the heels of BPACE’s joint accreditation visit by the Council for Occupational Education (COE) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) from March 25 to March 28. The visit yielded overwhelmingly positive feedback, affirming BPACE’s commitment to educational excellence. Notably, the program received no flags for findings in areas requiring improvement — a significant milestone underscoring its high standards and exceptional performance.

The BPACE team, including Director Dr. Verónica Valenzuela, Assistant Director Dr. Andrew Stager, Assistant Principal Jason Schmidt, and Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSAs) Brandon Palmer, Diana Casas, and Lance Quintana, were recognized for this achievement during the Baldwin Park Unified School District Board Meeting held on January 21, 2025.

“This award reflects the incredible work of our team and our partners, who share a vision of connecting education to opportunity,” said Director Dr. Verónica Valenzuela. “We are proud to support students and staff in meaningful ways that make a lasting impact on their future.”

Currently, BPACE is excited to expand its programming by offering new Saturday services and classes for the community. These additions aim to provide greater access to educational opportunities and provide flexibility.
