Massive Maintenance Efforts Prepare Schools for New Year

This summer, the Baldwin Park USD Facilities, Maintenance and Operations department is hard at work with an unprecedented number of maintenance construction projects and improvements. The team is working tirelessly to complete these projects ahead of the upcoming school year, ensuring minimal disruption to instruction.

The comprehensive list of projects includes concrete repairs, blacktop crack and gap filling, new playgrounds and play area updates, painting, roofing repairs/replacements, rain gutter replacements, new air conditioning installations, improved high school sports batting cages, netting and bullpens, new classroom flooring, addition of portables at BPACE, and installation of shade structures.

Part of this extensive project list included installation of new carpet in 43 classrooms, painting of 68 rooms, resurfacing 686,634 square feet of asphalt, installing new roofing on 31 rooms and a two-story building, and implementing five new playgrounds, among other significant maintenance improvements.

In addition to these projects, the District is also introducing new custodial equipment such as high-powered floor wet and dry vacuums, auto floor scrubbers, backpack and upright vacuums and new custodial cleaning carts. This new high quality equipment is designed to cut down on cleaning time, and help maintain our high standards for clean learning environments.

Numerous campuses, including ATP, Baldwin Park High, Bursch, BPACE, BP STEM, De Anza, Foster, Geddes, Jones, Kenmore, Olive, Sierra Vista Middle, Sierra Vista High, Tracy, Vineland, and Walnut are seeing significant improvements and preparations for incoming students among other sites.

All projects are supported by ELOP and ESSER III funds, which are pivotal in enhancing the safety, accessibility, and overall quality of our school environments.

In addition to increasing safety and accessibility, these upgrades provide higher quality outdoor spaces for students, better indoor learning environments for both students and teachers, and beautify our campuses, making them more welcoming and comfortable.
