BPHS Valedictorian to Attend UC Berkeley

Jose Bustamante, a graduating senior at Baldwin Park High School, has achieved a remarkable array of accomplishments, earning the title of 2024 Valedictorian. A four-year member of the Pomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS), Bustamante has been recognized for his academic excellence and leadership skills. Bustamante graduates with an impressive GPA of 4.797.


This fall, Bustamante will attend the University of California, Berkeley. As a first-generation college student, he has also been awarded a local scholarship to support his studies. His academic journey includes acceptance to several highly selective and prestigious schools.


In addition to his academic achievements, Bustamante serves as the president of both the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) club and the National Honor Society at Baldwin Park High School. He is also a dedicated student-athlete, balancing his commitments on and off the field. Recently, Bustamante participated in the American Legion Boys & Girls State program, further demonstrating his leadership and commitment to community service.
