Gustavo Trujillo, Jr., a graduating senior at Baldwin Park High School, has garnered multiple accolades for his academic and extracurricular achievements. Trujillo, the President of the Humanitarian Club and Vice-President of PALs, has been awarded numerous scholarships, including The Gates Scholarship which covers up to $500,000, Ramona Burnham Scholarship, Margaret Heath Scholarship, Valley County Water District Scholarship, Oscar E. Gomez LUCHA Memorial Scholarship, Baldwin Park Education Association (BPEA) Scholarship, Woman's Club Cruz Baca Scholarship, and Waste Management Scholarship. Additionally, Trujillo secured a Waste Management Summer Internship.
Trujillo is an AP and Honors Scholar, and recipient of the 2023 College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award. He has been accepted to several prestigious universities, including Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, and the University of Chicago. Trujillo has chosen to attend the University of Southern California (USC) on a full-ride scholarship to study Business Administration with a focus on AI and Political Science.
As a first-generation college student, Trujillo's acceptance into these elite institutions and his selection for The Gates Scholarship—covering the full cost of attendance not met by other financial aid—marks a significant milestone. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, and other personal costs.
Trujillo’s dedication extends beyond academics; he is also a student-athlete, 2023-24 student board member, club leader, and 2023 American Legion Boys & Girls State participant. His aspirations include a career in business and economics, with plans to remain politically active and eventually enter public service.
