The Sierra Vista High School Dons conquered their winter sports season claiming League Championships titles across multiple sports. In a nail-biting finish, the Boys Basketball team emerged victorious in a thrilling 3-way tie, while the Girls Basketball team displayed unmatched skill to secure their title. The Wrestling team grappled their way with sheer determination resulting in a successful seven time league win, while the Boys and Girls Soccer teams showcased their speed and teamwork to also reign supreme in their leagues. In addition, the Dons Cheer team finished 3rd place at Nationals where they proudly earned their highest score of the season.
"I am very proud of our athletic programs for working so hard this winter season. All of coaches and student athletes’ dedication certainly paid off," Sierra Vista High School Athletic Director Robyn Reclusado-Garcia said.
Despite a challenging winter sports season for Baldwin Park High School, the Braves remained determined and buoyant! Highlights include five wrestlers: Harley Wirth, Carlos Lacayo, Michael Darr, Francisco Navarro, and Vanessa Marquez who qualified for CIF Championships after advancing from League Finals. Additionally, 20 female athletes attended the inspiring "Girls Got Game'' symposium held at Claremont McKenna College Roberts Pavilion on February 1. The event brought together various female high school athletes in the area for the opportunity to interact and hear from college athlete guest speakers. Looking ahead, The Braves Cheer team is fiercely preparing to begin their competition season in March.
"Despite a challenging season for our winter sports, our students kept battling and never gave up. We are proud to have gained valuable lessons which will help prepare us for next year," Baldwin Park High School Athletic Director Carlos Aparicio said.
Both high schools are gearing up to embark on their spring sports season ahead!
