High School Students Explore the LA Dodgers College Fair

Over 200 Baldwin Park and Sierra Vista High School students participated in an exciting field trip to Dodger Stadium for an exclusive college fair. From Baldwin Park High, freshmans through seniors with grades C or above were invited to participate. At Sierra Vista High, the field trip focused on juniors who maintained their A-G college requirements. For both schools, the trip provided a platform to explore future colleges while enjoying a day filled with fun sporting activities.

The event offered students an immersive experience featuring informational booths from over 20 esteemed colleges and universities. From browsing diverse academic programs to interacting with college representatives, students gained firsthand insights into their potential educational pathways. Following the college session, students stayed for an exhilarating Dodger baseball game to round out the trip. The combination of academic exploration and sporting entertainment made the trip an unforgettable experience, particularly for those students experiencing the stadium for the first time.

“We hope these experiences continue to inspire our students and help them understand the importance of their A-G requirements,” Sierra Vista High School Teacher Andrea Grimm said.

Accompanied by dedicated school counselors and teachers, students received guidance and support throughout the event, enhancing the overall impact of the trip. Some school teachers also enjoyed seeing their alma mater college booths and had fun interacting with recruiters to share their positive experiences. Their planning and presence not only facilitated seamless coordination, but also added to the collective sense of community and shared learning. Their efforts make all the difference in securing and providing students with enriching experiences outside of the classroom.

“The Dodgers College Fair gave our students exposure to higher education while allowing them to also enjoy a professional baseball game, some for the first time,” Baldwin Park High School Counselor Lupe Fall said.
