BPUSD Celebrates Adult Transition Program Graduates

The event honored the Class of 2025, composed of young adult students with moderate to severe disabilities. ATP provides students ages 18-22 with instruction and real-world experiences that prepare them for life after high school, including employment, community involvement, and independent living skills.

Students were recognized with certificates of completion and special honor cords for achievements such as participation in the Exploratory Work Experience program, Employee of the Month recognition at the student-run store, and involvement in extracurricular activities including volunteer work and the school yearbook.

The event featured student reflections and speeches that highlighted personal growth, friendships, and memories. Three students from the upcoming Project SEARCH cohort were introduced as part of the program’s next phase in career development and job readiness.

Baldwin Park City Council Member Emmanuel Estrada delivered the keynote address, congratulating the graduates and emphasizing how much they are needed in the world. Estrada praised the students' resilience, potential, and the meaningful impact they can have in their communities.

A slideshow presentation celebrated each graduate's journey through ATP, followed by a special recognition for longtime ATP teacher Eileen McConville, who is retiring after years of dedicated service to the program and its students.

The program focuses on preparing students to become contributing members of the community through hands-on learning and practical life skills. The event concluded with cheers, hugs, and well wishes as students, families, and staff marked a milestone in the lives of the graduates.
